I don't have an airbrush, I have a preval sprayer that can be used as an airbrush without needing a fine detail. I have Wilton colors, can I mix the red with any other than vodka to spray the cake? I thought I've heard someone use clear vanilla but I want to make sure before I ruin something. Please help, I need to use it within the next couple of hours.

Any clear alcohol-based extract will work - clear vanilla, lemon, almond, whatever. You just need clear so that it won't change your color. Mix well and strain through a coffee filter or paper towel to get out any clumps that don't dissolve.
