This may have been asked before, but I couldn't find anything on it.

What is your favorite powdered sugar to use for bc, fondant, etc?

I was using wal-mart brand till my hubby bought me Domino's and had to use it and wow what a difference, I will only use Domino's for now on. So much smoother and easier to spread and picks up less crumbs when crumb coating.

I also tried to use an off-brand before I began using C & H PS. There is a HUGE difference. C&H gives less lumps and is better tasting.

I have been using Imperial, which hasn't been too bad as far as smoothness goes. I tried to find the Domino brand at Wal-Mart today and they didn't carry it. I am fairly sure the local HEB carries it so I will have to look there the next time I go. icon_smile.gif

I use the 50lb bags from Costco. I think they are Dominos as well.

Definitely Domino's for both PS and GS. Texture/consistency is off on any of the store brands and for baking things just don't turn out as well.

Ditto, but I'm in California.

I once tried using Albertson's brand, to make some 'cheap' fondant that I could practice with, and it was just AWFUL!! My fondant was so lumpy and bumpy, even though I always make sure to sift my sugar.

So right now, I've had success with C&H and I intend to stay with it.

My favorite is Sam's Baker's & Chef's brand - it's 10x sifted so my fondant and buttercream come out pretty smooth with it. I haven't ever tried Domino's powdered sugar though - just the granulated kind.

Dominoes. Though I've heard good things about C&H, it's just not available in my area.

I have tried the walmart brand, but i prefer dominos that is the only brand i use. iI like the product (fondant and buttercream frosting) a lot better with the domino's brand.
