Hello All CCers!

I'm doing my first wedding cake and the bride has brought me ribbon to go around the base of each layer. Will the grease from the buttercream (I use Wilton's basic buttercream recipe) stain or create spots on the ribbon? If so, how do I avoid that? Or do I just tint fondant and wrap with that. The bride is fine with whatever but the ribbon would be easier! icon_smile.gif

Thanks!

Most people cut wax paper the same width as the ribbon and use that as a backing. But others may have more ideas.

Do you then put the wax paper around the cake and then the ribbon on top of it?

I've read some people say they use tape on the back.

I have used the wax paper method you mentioned and have also read someplace that contact paper could be used by removing the paper and sticking the ribbon to the sticky side. Good Luck! princess.gif
