It's a book I read back in the eighties, aimed at teenagers. I have tried "book" forums, search engines, I browse the teen section of the library whenever I take my kids there, this is my last resort!
It's about a teenage girl whose mother has recently passed away from cancer. Her father hires a live in housekeeper that brings her bratty kid with her. She ends up being sent to an "alternative" school, because of problems at her regular high school. One of the teachers there is into reading auras and stuff. She falls for a guy whose name I believe is TJ. She makes a friend and learns the friend's (step?) father molests her, and their counselor advises them to buy a lock for the friend's door. That's about as much of the details as I can remember.
If you made it this far, thanks. It has driven me crazy for years that I cannot remember the name of this book. If anyone knows it, I would be EVER so grateful!!
Just a guess but could it be silver by Norma Fox Mazer?? You can find it on amazon.
Nope, that's not it. But thank you for trying.
I hate not being able to remember something!!!
