How Do I Make Wheat Stems?

I have a wedding cake request for sunflowers with wheat stems. The flowers no problem n=but the wheat stem has got me stumped. any help would greatly be appriciated.

I've never made them but I've read on CC that when doing stems you can take floral wire and push your wire up into an icing bag filled with Royal icing. Set it aside and let it dry completely before you paint it with whatever color you want the stem to be. As far as the wheat top, I would imagine you could make it out of gumpaste. Wish I could be of more help.

instead of using wire use spaghetti, theres actually a pasta that is like a long very thin tube that would work great. for the wheat heads you can either pipe them on or made them out of fondant.
