Good Filling For Spice Cake, No Refridge Needed

I am looking for a filling that will taste good with a spice cake the cake that I am doing is a carved cake covered in fondant so and it's quite large so I can't really refridge it.

Any suggestions?

i made a spice cake last year for my sil.. i use blackberry spread... for the filling.. she said it was delicious.. i got the recipe from the internet.. i think.. it might be on this site..

Mixture of equal parts Brn Sugar and White Sugar Cinnamon and Nutmeg...dash of Cloves
I call it strudel filling....but I don't really fill with it. I pour half batter in the pan....strudel mix, then the other half of the batter.
Bake as usual and then I fill with regular buttercream.
I also do this with cupcakes....yummy!

My family loves the apple filling that comes in a plastic sleeve.

Apple butter makes a good filling, especially if you put a thin layer of BC along with it. Also good are maple buttercream and pumpkin butter.
