I bought Del El- Just whites from Walmart. I have always used Wilton Meringue but thought I would try something different. Is this the same thing?

It should be - I had never seen this brand before, but went to visit my aunt and SHE had the Deb-El brand. She has used them before with no problems.

I've also seen the Just Whites in liquid version in the refrigerator section @ Walmart - may try those in my next cake that calls for just the whites - I HATE separating eggs!!

They are both egg whites, but the wilton has some corn starch etc to make it not clump so much. The additives give it an aftertaste to me, HOWEVER the Deb-El is harder to measure because of the clumping. What I do is mix the two together so it is half and half. It measures easier and tastes better to me.

Wilton has gum arabic and vanilla in theirs. I think you could use the Just Whites for adding to buttercream, but not sure how it would taste in royal icing. Personally the Just Whites added an odd taste to my buttercream.
