How many of you just place the cake on the separater plate and ice?I usually put it on a covered cardboard circle and then put it on the plastic plate with double sided tape underneath to hold it but I am thinking this is not needed and wastes money on foil and circles..

What do you all think?

No, I always use a cardboard. If there is any cake leftover, they can remove the cardboard and get your plate back to you right away ... even if it's a family event.

I like to put the cake right on the plastic plate. I will build the cost of the plate into the price of the cake. No worrying about getting the plates returned.
