Hi. I am wondering if anyone can come up with different types of fillings that go well with a chocolate or vanilla cake. There are many many on here and they all sound good, but I honestly don't know what the base filling of them are...Is it vanilla buttercream? Any input would be great, just nothing with peanut butter, as my daughter is allergic to peanuts. I have been filling it with a chocolate ganache, which is delish...I wonder if I can tweak that somehow...Thanks...

I just sent out a cake that got rave reviews. It was the Darn Good Chocolate cake with cookies and cream filling. I used a small container of whipping cream (whipped of course), about 10 crushed Oreos and enough powdered sugar to make it taste nice and sweet. It filled an 8" cake and 9 cupcakes. I have to rely on my hubby for taste-testing as I'm allergic to chocolate, but he gave it the thumbs-up and I got a referral from how it tasted, too.
