I use them all the time they are great. they have the alphabet and numbers on them and you roll out gum paste or fondant really thin i put cornstarch on them to help release them. they cut out the letters and numbers to make the words on your cakes. i have 2 sets i think there might be a third. I wish they would come out with more i would buy them all. they are great if you don't like writing on cakes. ps they call them tappits because sometimes you have to tap them to release the letter.

I bought mine from Global Sugar Art. I don't have any well stocked cake supply stores near me so I have to order things like this online. I took a pic so you could have an idea of what they look like. I really like them. You should give them a try.

I have the block letter ones but haven't had a lot of success using fondant with them....sounds like gumpaste would be better. I love the ones in the pic above so I'm heading over to GSA now!

So they're like cookie cutters?

I just got some of these, and have ordered more. Although they're great, they should be called Whackhardits, rather than Tappits!! I had to repeatedly slap them hard against the edge of the counter to get the letter to come out! The name gives the wrong impression!!

LMAO.... icon_lol.gif

"Whackhardits" she says...

I've wanted a set for quite a long time just haven't had the chance to order online. Would love to see them in person before spending the cash on it though. Does anyone know where I can get them in Canada? Not a Michael's thing I don't think.

No, either a specialist cake supply store, or online. There's a new (?) place called FlourConfections.com (or .ca..?) which has a bunch to choose from. That's where I ordered from this morning, and I've already had an email to say they've been shipped.
