I recently made shells for decoration on a cake. I had a Wilton Choc. mold in the shape of shells, and used white and choc. candy melts marbled together to make the shells. It was very easy to do.

I have 2 shell cakes in my photos...i used different kinds of plastic molds with white fondant and used luster dusts to color them

I've made them before with white chocolate, I then added a little of detail with luster dusts.
You can buy molds online or at your local cake/craft store.
Here's a pic.
