Which brand of meringue powder is best? Does it make a difference if you use Wilton or not?
I like CK..It smells really nice and gives good results.I have heard that Wilton has a yucky smell.It makes no difference which one you use..you can always flavor whatever you are making with lorann oils etc.
I have used both wilton and Chef Master, they both work the same, the chef master is cheaper for me and does smell nice. Wilton is more readily available if you discover at 2am you are out you can pop on over to the 24hr walmart. I add flavoring and find no difference in taste. But the wilton does smell yuck.
I read on one of the forums that you can use lemon juice to alter the taste of the meringue..is it better to just use vanilla and almond extracts?
I usually use a combination of vanilla, almond extract and butter flavoring. Sometimes I use creme bouquet instead which is vanilla, almond, lemon mixture.
