I was wondering how you know how much fondant to make for a cake, I make MMF and I always make like 2-3 batches extra or 1-2 short, so is there a good way to estimate how much to make? For example I am getting ready to make 3, 6" round cakes all 4" tall, so how many batches should I make?

According to the wilton chart, to cover one 6" cake that is 4" tall you need 18 oz. of fondant. I cannot recall how much one recipe of MMF makes, but hopefully this will help you out some.
