Those who have used both, or strongly love one or the other...which would you recommend? It seems like I would be inclined to get the hard plastic one that doesn't smoosh and mar the round shapes of the beads. What should I get?

Or this type: http://www.globalsugarart.com/product.php?id=18755&name=FMM%209mm%20Bead%20Cutter
And does the hard plastic type make a continuous strand, or individual ones? It almost looks like they are individual.
Can't believe I've never needed one of these before. ((sigh)) More cake toys?? Heh heh...sure!
Edited to add: I see now that it does indeed make a continuous strand...cool!
I prefer the silicone ones. I love it!
I also love the silicon pearl mold that I have
Coolness....I guess I'll order a few of those then. I have never seen much love for the hard plastic ones. Thanks guys!
I have several of the First Impression silicone molds. I find lots of pictures of the pearls, but not one of the mold itself. http://www.firstimpressionsmolds.com/br128perfectpearls14and12mmx12x.aspx It is one sided so the pearls have a flat back that makes it easy (for me) to put them on the cake. They are also 12" long so you only have to mold half as many times.
Resurrecting this for a quick question...
What's everyone's "go to" size for these? Seems like an 8mm mold would be the best all purpose option to me. I don't really care to buy more than one at this point. What would be your indispensable size of pearl mold?
If you go with First Impression molds, one mold has 6, 8 & 10 mm for $23. The one I actually use most often is the 12 mm which comes in a mold with the 14 mm ($20).
Thank you!! I stopped my order in time. I figured I'd go with the 6 8 and 10. Sheesh...duh!
I love my FI molds and Colette Peters was using the same ones at Cake Camp!
I also use 8 mm a lot.
