Those who have used both, or strongly love one or the other...which would you recommend? It seems like I would be inclined to get the hard plastic one that doesn't smoosh and mar the round shapes of the beads. What should I get?

This type:

Or this type:

And does the hard plastic type make a continuous strand, or individual ones? It almost looks like they are individual.

Can't believe I've never needed one of these before. ((sigh)) More cake toys?? Heh heh...sure!

Edited to add: I see now that it does indeed make a continuous! icon_smile.gif

I have several of the First Impression silicone molds. I find lots of pictures of the pearls, but not one of the mold itself. It is one sided so the pearls have a flat back that makes it easy (for me) to put them on the cake. They are also 12" long so you only have to mold half as many times. icon_smile.gif

Resurrecting this for a quick question...

What's everyone's "go to" size for these? Seems like an 8mm mold would be the best all purpose option to me. I don't really care to buy more than one at this point. What would be your indispensable size of pearl mold?

If you go with First Impression molds, one mold has 6, 8 & 10 mm for $23. The one I actually use most often is the 12 mm which comes in a mold with the 14 mm ($20).

Thank you!! I stopped my order in time. I figured I'd go with the 6 8 and 10. Sheesh...duh!

I love my FI molds and Colette Peters was using the same ones at Cake Camp! icon_smile.gif
