I'm sure that this is discussed somewhere on this site, but I can't find it. I'm trying to price out a wedding cake for a family member and can't figure out how much fondant I would need for a 12, 10, 8 cake. I usually make my own, but due to the large amount and some time restrictions, I thought this would be a good time to try either the Satin Ice or Fondarific, I just don't know how much I would need to purchase. TIA for your help!

I don't know the answer but try going to Satin Ice Website and see if they have a guide line for fondant usage.

Hope the suggestion helps.

I had a chart at one time but didn't need what it said so now i just think of it like this:

6" about 1 lb.
8 or 9 inch about 2 lbs.
10" about 3 lbs.
12" about 4 lbs.
14" about 5 lbs.
18" about 6 lbs.

So, basically, I just add a pound per 2 inches. I don't end up needing the whole amount depending on the shape but if this helps you, then cool icon_biggrin.gif
