The husband of a friend of mine will be old enough (62) on Monday to begin collecting Social Security checks. The wife would like to have a cake decorated using that theme... something amusing. She only wants one layer (1/4 sheet), no filling, so I don't have a lot of cake surface to work with. Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!! I need to begin work on this by Saturday. Thanks!!!

The only thing I could think of was maybe a senior discount card or something like that, since it's just a flat 1/4 sheet. Maybe use an edible image for his face in the card. To dress it up a bit, put some sayings around the sides of the cake....

I'm the life of the party... even if it lasts until 8 p.m.
I'm very good at opening childproof caps with a hammer.
I'm usually interested in going home before I get to where I am going.
I'm awake many hours before my body allows me to get up.
I'm smiling all the time because I can't hear a thing you're saying.
I'm very good at telling stories; over and over and over and over...
I'm aware that other people's grand-children are not as cute as mine.
I'm so cared for -- long term care, eye care, private care, dental care.
I'm not grouchy, I just don't like traffic, waiting, crowds, politicians.
I'm sure everything I can't find is in a secure place.
I'm wrinkled, saggy, lumpy, and that's just my left leg.
I'm having trouble remembering simple words like....
I'm realizing that aging is not for wimps.
I'm sure they are making adults much younger these days.
I'm wondering, if you're only as old as you feel, how could I be alive at 100!!
I'm a walking storeroom of facts..... I've just lost the storeroom.
Yes, I'm a SENIOR CITIZEN and I think I am having the time of my life!

Sorry if this doesn't help any! Good luck with the cake!

Wow! Did you just come up with all those phrases off the top of your head? Thanks so much for those ideas. icon_smile.gif I know I want to go with something along the lines of incorporating the fact that he will now be receiving Social Security checks... anyone else have a good idea or two?

I've seen a lot of over the hill cakes...but never one with a bank on the other side...

...maybe he could be headed to the bank with check in hand?

(Sorry. Evidently, rowdy toddlers cause premature posting! icon_redface.gif )

Maybe just do a "check". You know, with it written to him from the SS Administration. I think you could fit that on a 1/4 sheet. HTH

Maybe you could have a large piggy bank with a guy with a hammer ready to break it open and on the piggy bank write...my ss savings.

DetailsByDawn...I love all of your inscriptions!
