Will candy melts set up on buttercream the way they should? Will it mess up the buttercream? I have to do a fishing theme cake and was going to use a skewer cut down & use candy melts to attach string as the fishing line. Any other suggestions??

I think candy melts will break because once they set up they harden...You coud try Royal icing but you need to get the consistency perfect or it won't drop down like a string...Very hard to do.Piece of thin shoe string licorice but that isn't that great looking.
