Making Baby Booties With Cutters

I'm making baby booties with the cutters ordered from sharon. I CANNOT get them to look smooth around the toe/front of the shoe! There's liitle dents and funky looking spots on them. I also keep getting cracks when they dry. I've done them with all gp, half gp & half fondant. I've rolled them thin, thick and thicker. Any tips?

Can you post a photo? I don't know if you mean while you are assembling they aren't matching up right or if you mean right after cutting. I've only made one pair, and I did it free-hand -- no cutter. A photo might help others help you out!
