Good morning everyone!

I need to do a Vanderbilt football cake this weekend with black and gold buttercream accents. Which Americolor gels should I use to achieve the gold color. Do I use a yellow base and add some brown or orange. I am horrible at mixing colors and trying to figure out combos and such. icon_razz.gif

Thanks so much for any help you can give me!

I surprised myself last week and made gold fondant that looked perfect using Americolors - I'm sure it's the same with buttercream.
The only problem is I did not measure how much color I used.....

I started with a base of Lemon Yellow, added in a little soft brown and a few drops of red. By mistake, it was a drop or two too much red (or I thought) but it came out nice.

Good luck!

Wiltons Buttercup yellow makes a good gold, depending on what kind of gold you want you can add a tiny bit of green or brown.
Americolor also makes a Gold coloring but I like Wiltons better.
