I am making my fiancee's birthday cake and she is ALL about music. I plan to make a tiered cake, covered in black fondant with a music staff/notes going around it. I would love to have the silver staff and make it out of fondant but I havent seen any silver fondant...is it possble? Is there a special coloring I can mix into it? HELP!!! icon_eek.gif

Color the fondant grey, then paint with silver luster dust mixed with vodka. Easy silver.

You can't mix the colour in (you'll just get grey) but you can buy silver dust that you mix with alcohol and paint on.

I just made golf clubs yesterday that needed to look like metal. I did exactly as noted above. Made them out of grey fondant and painted on the NuSilver dust mixed with clear vanilla.

Yes.. all you need is some luster dust in silver, some vodka and a brush and you can handpaint it. Or there is always the airbrush. They sell colors for airbrush machines in silver and gold amongst others.
