Can I frost a cake that I just took out from freezer with buttercream, or does it need to defrost? Can I pop it in the microwave for a few minutes?
i've never heard of anyone popping it in the microwave...just let it thaw on the counter and then ice.
there are some who have iced a frozen cake...but i've never done it!
I have iced frozen cakes before. I know some people are concerned with condensation but I find it easier to work with my layers and filling when the cake is frozen and have not yet had any issues with the defrosting after icing/fondant.
I've iced semi frozen cakes before and never had a problem. Just thaw it in the counter for 30 minutes... it really doesn't take that long.
