Hi,

I am wanting to make a wedding cake that is showy but not too hard to make. Something that people would look at. Any idea pictures would be appreciated. Thank you.

How are you at gumpaste flowers?

I think the cakes with plain, perfect icing or fondant, a bit of ribbon, and a couple of VERY well done flowers are showy.

Not a lot of piping to do.

For drama and impact, cornelli lace or scroll work with a high contrast butter cream or fondant base can be amazing. Simple fresh flowers can finish it. Once attended a wedding in the fall. Orange base with yellow cornelli and leaves as accents. Very pretty and adaptable to any season.

If your gumpaste work is not what you'd like it to be, The cakes with really smooth BC or fondant and ribbon for a border and accented by a brooch are very pretty. the topper could be one of those monograms that look like jewelry.

Here's a link to one of Tonedna's - I think it's beautiful. Sorry, I don't know how to import the picture for you, so I can only give you the link. http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-photo_1444750.html
