I have searched but cannot come up with the recipe. I have seen it on here a long time ago. I am making a fondant/gum paste record and want it to be shiny. I know about using steam, but I thought I would give this recipe a try...if I can ever find it!
Thanks everyone!
This is the recipe I had saved, but have yet to try it. Hope it helps!

I just use equal parts of vodka and corn syrup....Berniebeaver used it on his walleye fish and it looked great. I used on the following http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-photo_1419522.html
If you want something to dry hard, confectioner's glaze will do it. It has to be bought though, there's no way to make it at home.
I have used egg white to paint on fondant for a shiny look as well. Eventually dries hard. I wish the cakes I did them to were posted. I'm kinda lazy about that, if I find the file I will post some.
Gum arabic (a powder) plus water is uber shiny--gleams kinda like patent leather in fact.
