I just came from a birthday party where the cake(not one I made) was really dry on the top half and extremely dense and moist on the bottom half. It was a 2 in. sheet cake, one layer, no filling. It was like all the moisture just sank to the bottom part of the cake icon_confused.gif It was from a box, but I don't think that made any difference cause I've made cakes from a box before and never had that happen. Anyway, I just thought it was strange and wondered if any of you might know what caused this.

It is possible they knew it was dry and used a simple syrup & it didnt soak all the way through the cake
