The tool set is the Wilton 10 piece set that came out spring 08. Each tool is double-ended. There are actually two of the tools that would do the tufting- a small and a larger one.

I used my Michael's coupon to get it.
That is beautiful troyfan!!! You did an awesome job - it really looks like there is tufted fabric on it!
Troyfan,
Beautiful, beautiful cake and beautiful flowers! Please tell us what you used to make the indentations.
Also - what did you use for the little buttons and how did you make them? And while I am asking - what kind of flowers are those and how did you make them?
LOVE YOUR CAKE!
Thanks.
wow, i love both cakes.. i don't care for all the flowers on Oprahs though. i think they should have used less in my opinion but.. hey its for a big celebrity .. i do love the quilting, can't wait to try it

the flowers are magnolia's. I learned how to make them on sugarshack's blog. the indentations were made with the wilton tools mentioned earlier. the buttons were made by rolling fondant into tiny balls and using the end of a wooden dowel to make them flat (after i put them on the cake)
Troyfan,
Thanks! I have seen that flower on SugarShack's blog so I need to check it out again. Believe it or not I have the Wilton tool set and I believe that tool is the umbrella tool. And thanks for letting us know how you did the "buttons".
Thanks again for sharing. I really do love your cake and I am going to have to give it a try.
I'd say gumpaste the leaves look a little to thick to be real. But wow, what awesome gumpaste flowers if they are. Doug, I don't know if they used that tool, but I'll bet you could. It does look very similar.
