How Do Ya'll Insert Your Sugar Beer Bottles Into The Cake?

Mine are hollow...I was thinking of covering the top of the cake in fondant and inserting the bottles into that..do you just insert your bottles into the cake and how far? Will the bottles touching the cake be okay? (I don't want any disintegration goin' on). I'll have "crushed ice" for the top, too, so hopefully that'll cover any irregularities on the top around the bottles. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I only make the front and top half of the bottle. I make sure the sugar fills the top half of the mold, then drips down to a point at the bottom. Then, just stab them into the cake! The cake doesn't cause any damage to the bottles or vice versa.
