are people using floral wire, and is that ok to stick in a cake with fondant decorations on them?

Yes, floral wire. No, not food safe. icon_biggrin.gif

People stick it in the cake anyhow but they shouldn't. Instead, stick the wires in a posy pic or a straw or a coffee stir or if you need to use a lot of individual wires, dip the wires in melted chocolate and let it harden before inserting them in the cake.

now wait a minute...sticking wire inside straws....it would still be in the cake...better dip in chocolate

I used floral wires in straws and put fondant at the hole ends.

aha...that would work.where are yoou all finding the heavy gauge wire? what about the floral wire that has a white wrapped something on the outside? I bet you could cover that with some thin mmf huh?
