How do you attach ceramic cake toppers to cakes? I was thinking royal icing to glue it down. Do I need to have a support between the cake and the topper?

I have attached a pic of the topper

Thanks

I would not attach it directly to the cake, unless you know it is food safe.

Place it on a thin cake card iced the same colour as the rest of the cake. Put supports into the cake otherwise the weight will make it sink. You can then pipe around the edge of the board to hide it.
