Fondant Vs. Modelling Chocolate

Is it better to mold figures out of fondant or modelling chocolate they will need to be painted after? Please help, have to start this cake this week. Thanks

I would recommend gumpaste or a 50/50 mix of fondant to gumpaste. You can model them using modelling chocolate, but I find it abit too soft to work with for this kind of project.

not to mention it doesn't paint well, have you ever tried to paint on chocolate??? Unless you're using colored cocoa butter it's not going to work.......go with gumpaste

thank you for getting back to me. plus its pretty hot around here lately so chocolate likely is not the best solution. thanks again
