i know that at need to put the boards between layers of stacked cakes, but do i need to put any kind of other supporst throught the cakes and layers(pillars, dow rods, ect) for added stabillity. i just dont' know how tall is too tall to not have to worry about it. i'm just getting into this so any help is great

tier height is usually 4" when torted and filled.

yes, need internal supports

Always add dowels/supports on the cake itself when stacking.
