I am still very new to decorating and am making my 2 year old a sphere moon cake. I will be placing a RKT shuttle orbiting the moon and am not sure which surface for the cake will hold up better? Buttercream or fondant? I would also like to put craters on etc. Just thought I would ask for advice or tips.

Please use fondant. Don't let anyone (and I know someone will try....grrrrrrr) to talk you into BC for that. Shading, making the craters, etc., will look MUCH nice with fondant. There. That felt good. icon_biggrin.gif Good luck!
