I am making baseball-themed cupcakes for a child's birthday party. Turns out the child has an allergy to red dyes. Any ideas? Are there alternatives out there that would allow me to still use red without harm?

Hi Sharon,

Is there any way you can find out which dye the child is allergic to. I am personally allergic to the 40 series and can't have anything like red gummy bears or skittles. There are other products, such as koolaid and jello you can look into if you don't mind having a different flavour, or you can try beet juice...but I have never used that so I can't really tell you anything about it. In the same note you may want to stay away from purple colouring as well just incase.

If you are doing a baseball, you can use brown or yellow stitching...that works as well. Hats and such can be any colour that won't interfere, you could also do little baseball diamonds with some grass sticking up.

Hope that helps!
