How long can a cake iced with cream cheese icing safely stay out of the refrigerator?

I'm not sure what the actual answer would be. Maybe 2 hrs?? I'm a bit of a worry wort so I've never left cream cheese icing or anything like that out for more than 1 hr. Maybe the usda website for food safety guidlines would have something like that posted?
It really depends on which recipe you use. If you want it safe out of the fridge for longer than the 2-hour food spoilage standard, use Earlene's recipe (found on earlenescakes dot com).
