I have a huge order of cupcakes due tomorrow and very little experience with this. My client wants them dipped in melted fondant. A friend of mine showed me how to do this yesterday and it seems easy enough. I wanted to know if anybody has done this with cupcakes that have a small thin layer of buttercream? If I let the bc sit and crust would it hold up under the liquid fondant?

Also, do you all add anything to box mix when making cupcakes?

Thanks!

I think I would fill the cupcake with buttercream. And then dip the top without the buttercream on top. Because if you're buttercream isn't perfectly smooth, the melted fondant is going to show every wrinkle.

Hope this helps.
