I hope someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong. The last few tiered cakes that I've made have "sunk" into each other and the fondant on the lower tiers is bubbling out. I'm putting the wooden dowels into the lower tier before adding a new tier but that doesn't seem to be holding up well. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!
Sounds like you're cutting your dowels too short. They should be even with or just a MILLIMETER shorter than the level of the fondant. If you cut them slightly too long, it's easier to cover up a small gap than an ugly bulge.
