I would like to know how to attach fresh iris on the cake.
This is the cake design.
four tiers (6,8,10,12) square cake with buttercream frosting.
silk ribbons around each tiers.
each tires has one or maybe two irises at the corners.
That is all. Very simple.
1.How can you put fresh flowers without showing holes if I need to stick into the cake?
2.If I just lay the flowers down on the layers, how can I keep them fresh not dying? do you just wait till cake time then ,put the flowers for just before the cake time?
Thanks.

I never put fresh flowers into a cake without the entire stem being covered. It's very unsanitary otherwise. An Iris has a very fleshly, thick stem..... Can you lay them on the cake with the short stem facing away from the corner?? I always recommend placing some sort of barrier between the cake and the flower, for the same reason as above. You can get little water pics to place them into.... but you would have to hide the pic somehow. Maybe a ribbon ON the stem/pic?

Hope this helps!

Hi Jennifer,
I think I am going to use wax paper if I am going to lay iris down on the cake. I hope the flower would be fine for a few hours without water.

If I stick into the cake I will use the water picks then
I will pipe some borders to hide the holes.

Thank you.
