Do You "always" Level A Cake?

Sorry for that omission! icon_redface.gif I had a full day and was running back and forth between CC and my kitchen on some quick breaks!

When the cake comes out of the oven and while it's still in the pan, I take a clean towel and lay it over the cake, then press down. Sometimes I will grab a cardboard or a cake plate that is slightly smaller than the cake to press down on the towel (safety issue ..... I've had steam escape thru the towel and man, that burns!). I just do that a few times.

I just tried this pushing down thing! You, my cc friends are geniuses! I have two beautifully level layers with no cutting!!

I find that baking strips are great tools in making a cake level.
