I can't currently get hi-ratio shortening (its out of stock) but I'd like to try sugarshacks recipe. Can I use regular shortening (not crisco)?
Yes, I've heard of people who've substituted regular shortening and been fine. The icing won't be as smooth, but it's okay. I've read where they suggest that you don't get the zero trans-fat. Many of the generic shortenings still have the trans fats in them.
