OMG...first time ever my cake actually looked like it was breathing. THe fondant was rolled probably too thin on a humid day and put on a cold cake. As soon as I applied it and smoothed it out, it was flat and suddenly huge bubbles were rising before my eyes. I took a push pin to pop it and nothing would help. It hardened that way and looked awful. Then, if things couldn't get worse, the sides started to buckle/ripple. This cake was embarrasing and I am upset that I don't know what went wrong or how to fix it. Luckily this wasn't for a paying customer but it makes me nervous in the future. What happened???

sounds like its temperature problems - its best to decorate your cakes at room temp, otherwise you can get problems like this.
i dont know how you were for time - but sometimes its best to accept defeat, pull it off, and start again. i hope you have better luck next time!
xx
