I'm making a flip flop cake and was wondering if I should torte and fill the cake before I carve the flip flop shapes out or should I torte and fill it once I have the flip flop shapes cut out?
After you cut it. You will want to be able to line your edge with icing to keep the filling in. Filling squishing out makes for a messy time icing the cake! Hope this helps!!
I prefer to cut the cake to shape and torte. I used to do it the other way, but once I used a filling that was a little to soft and my sides started to bulge. So now I cut to shape so I can still make a dam.
