I have very limited knowledge of working with fondant (self taught). A friend of the family wants help making her own wedding cake. She is having a 16", 12" and 8" round (6 inches high on each cake). I have no idea how to roll out that much fondant (especially without it sticking), how much I would need or once it's rolled, how to get it on the cake without tearing. UGH! I think I am in over my head...

Go to the fabric store and get a piece of clear vinyl big enough to roll out the largest tier. Roll your fondant out on it then lift the whole thing onto the cake and peel off the vinyl. To roll it out you can use corn starch or crisco.
