Hey Everyone,

I've been contacted by a neurosurgery office, who is celebrating a one year anniversary, to make a cake with a brain and spine. Help! I think I can manage making a brain, but a spine!?! Any suggestions? Of course, they want the cake next week. Help!

vertebra are just little rounds of cake laying on their sides.

the wrap in fondant.

add the little wings

make a nice shade of ivory.

if you want to do the disks between the vertebrae -- that could be more cake in a darker yellowish wrapping.

or could do a jelly role type cake and cover in fondant.

or bake longer sections of cake in a soup can ....

or take a sheet cake and split into long narrow sections, stack, and carve.

for faster, easier -- wrap the whole thing in the ivory color, then just add little bands of darker yellow for the disks.
