I don't think I've ever been to a wedding that didn't have a groom's cake either. I mean, I am a southern girl, but I've been to many weddings in PA (friends and family of my husband) and there were always grooms' cakes at those as well.

Our groom's cake was a joke. And not in a funny way. I can laugh at it now because I am very tempted to submit it to Cake Wrecks, but at the time I just had to roll my eyes and move on. It was totally an afterthought, and I left my husband in charge of contacting a bakery the week or so before the wedding to get a simple golf-themed sheet cake. Well, he forgot. So the morning of the wedding he went to Publix and came back with a cake (which I didn't get to see until we got into the reception tent) that was supposed to look like a golf ball on a tee. It looked exactly like waffle ice cream cone with vanilla ice cream and a murky green background. So embarrassing! icon_redface.gif
