Hi All!
I am trying to figure out how many cups of POWDERED SUGAR equals 1 pound?? I was thinking 2 cups of powdered sugar equals 1 pound. However, I just read somewhere that 4 cups of powdered sugar equals 1 pound?????
What is the correct measurement????
TIA
According to Toba Garrett's book, The Well Decorated Cake, 1 cup of 10x confectioner's sugar weighs 1/2 of one cup of granulated sugar. 4 cups of CS=16 oz.=1 lb.=454 grams.
Hope that helps.
1 pound = 3.485859703764 cup [US]
I got that from a conversion calculator... so it's 3.5 cups per pound.
I went to www.ask.com and found answers ranging from 2.5 cups per pound to 3.75 cups per pound.
So I went to the best source ... the bag of sugar itself.
My bag of sugar says a serving size is 1/4 cup and there are 106 servings in my 7 lb bag.
106 divided by 4 = 26.5 cups per 7 lb bag.
26.5 cups divided by 7 lbs = 3.7857 cups per pound.
LOL! You sure got a lot of different answers (although they are all right around the same number). Hehe.
