I was asked to create a 4 tiered cake with separators between each tier for a quinceanera. The customer requested different themes for the columns on each separation. The top separator she wanted softballs as the columns. The middle separator she wanted baseball bats as the columns. The third separator she wanted volleyballs as the columns. When searching online I havent run across actual columns that are as requested. I was wondering if anybody has seen columns like this or if anybody has an alternative for creating this effect. One idea I was thinking about was using regular columns and place rice crispy treats around the columns and then covering the rice crispy treats with fondant, so they look like volleyballs, softballs, and bats. Thanks to everybody in advance for their ideas and suggestions.

I like the idea you have but thought I'd throw a couple more out there for you to think about (don't know how well they will suit your cake though...)

How about using the globe pillars by Wilton for the balls and you could just cover them with fondant?

Or use the fillable pillars and make miniature balls and bats and fill them (I don't know how big these so don't know if they will fit your requirements though).

Or use your own containers to put the sports balls and bat in? Something like this:

Just found this cake that has used baseball bats for pillars (you have to scroll down just a bit)
