So I have a friend that needs to have a cake the weekend I'm away - she wants to get it 5 days before her party and just freeze it - its a 6" cake with cupcakes. Cupcakes will be iced with buttercream, same as the 6" - but both are to have fondant/gumpaste decorations on them.

First, do you know the best way to freeze a decorated cake? I can't saran wrap it first because it will already be decorated. Is a tupperware enough?

Second, will the fondant/gumpaste decorations keep in the freezer and thaw okay, or will they all have to be added later?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Christy633

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere in CC that you cannot freeze cakes decorated with fondant/gumpaste.
