I tried this buttercream tonight, and I was so impressed. The buttercream didn't have any air bubbles and I was able to use a paper towel almost imediately on it. It worked perfect, I have never had such a smooth cake, I love it. Thanks so much for sharing your recipe and technique, I'll never use anything else.

Ain't it great! I am a die hrad SMBC user, but had to find something for the crazies that want outdoor parties (in 100+ heat? FREAKS!). And Sugarshacks is the best. That hi ratio is pretty cool stuff. No greasy slick in your mouth like Crisco, no funny taste, and smooth as a baby's butt. It's the only shortening based icing I'll recommend!

Where do you find Hi ratio shortening? I buy shortening that HAS trans fat in it, but is that good enough?

Not if you want the true results that hi rat provides. I got mine out of town, because it's not something that is stocked at the average store. You can get it online too.
