I'm thinking red piping gel. Has anyone else done this? I'm wondering if it will be thin enough to actually drip down, or if I need to add water or corn syrup to get the right consistency. Any ideas?

use stage blood:

the "classic" recipe

clear corn syrup
water to thin it a bit
red food color
blue food color

make syrup bright red.

tone it with blue to either artery (less blue) or venous (more blue)

thin to runniness needed.

----

optional

if too "clear"

add either

cornstarch -- makes translucent

or

flour -- makes opaque

-----

totally edible -- can even flavor it

BUT

it STAINS like the dickens

-------

and just for fun, here's a link to a pdf of other stage blood recipes -- the ones w/ detergent developed to keep the costume people from killing the prop people (stage blood is "props")

have fun!
