My royal icing rose petals are melting together before I can finish the rose. I tried doing a row at a time and letting them dry but that takes too long. How can i make beautiful roses out of royal icing the first time around?
The melting dilemma could be caused by icing that is too thin or somehow or another grease of some kind came in contact with the icing ...whether in the mixing stage or the tip or bag....everything needs to be COMPLETELY GREASE FREEor the icing didn't get beat long enough....
I use less water than is called for in the recipe(that's if you're using the meringue powder version) while mixing it initially, then, dribble in what I need to get the consistency
Maybe your right. It may be to thin. But I do not have a countertop mixer yet and thickening it by hand is a J-O-B. And i will be more careful about grease free items. Thanks for the info.
Are you beating it by hand or with a hand-held mixer?
