Hi,

I need to make some anemone like the ones on Buddy's black and white cake in the first show. Does anyone know what the long pieces in the center were made of?

Any help will be appreciated.

I apologize profusely for the multiple posts.

I watched him make them serveral times on my DVR trying to pinpoint it. As I recall (it's been a few weeks since I watched it) he took floral wire and looped black thread through a small hook he made in the wire. Then he cut the thread so it wasn't loopy anymore (sorry I know I'm being vague). Then he put a cone/ball of black fondant on top of the wire loop, but kept the tread exposed (semi wrapping the tread around the black center like a real anemone). Then he covered the black gumpaste bud with poppy seeds to give it texture. As for the petals, I'm not sure which cutter he used. I'd guess any scalloped 3 or 5 petal cutter would work. Hope that helps and doesn't just cause more confusion!
